Empanadus Information

Stepping into Empanadus on Calendar Avenue, you immediately notice the cozy, inviting vibe that makes it feel more like a neighborhood kitchen than a typical eatery. The aroma of freshly baked pastries greets you right at the door, setting the tone for what’s clearly a menu crafted with care and passion. While the space itself is modest, the warmth of the staff and the casual, friendly energy more than make up for it, creating an environment where you can linger over a meal without feeling rushed.

The menu is a delightful exploration of flavors, centered around their signature empanadas, which are the real stars here. Each pastry is packed generously, with fillings ranging from savory classics like seasoned beef and roasted chicken to inventive options with vegetables, cheeses, and spices that hint at authentic Latin American inspiration. The crust strikes a perfect balance-flaky but sturdy enough to hold the fillings without becoming greasy-so every bite is satisfying. Pairing a crisp, freshly made empanada with one of their light, refreshing beverages elevates the meal, and the staff are always happy to suggest combinations that complement the flavors.

What stands out is the consistency and attention to detail in every order. Customers often mention that despite the casual setup, nothing feels rushed or impersonal; each dish arrives thoughtfully plated, and portions are generous without being overwhelming. Whether you’re popping in for a quick takeout or settling in for a sit-down experience, the service is friendly, efficient, and genuinely helpful, making it easy to feel welcomed even if it’s your first visit.

The location in La Grange adds to its charm, giving it a local, community-focused feel rather than a corporate or generic vibe. The reviews around town often highlight how Empanadus manages to combine authenticity with approachability, making it a go-to spot for both regulars and newcomers. Beyond the food, the overall experience-warm atmosphere, attentive staff, and consistently flavorful dishes-makes a visit here more than just a meal; it’s a small but memorable culinary adventure right in the heart of the neighborhood.

What People's Say About Place

The empanadas were very delicious and my quinoa chicken soup was so packed with quinoa and veggies! I ordered another to take home. The lunch specials are reasonably priced and the food was very hot.Look at the word corn on the empanada. So cute! I love this place and would drive the 40 minutes to go back.

Had the beef empanada before catching the metra.. it was hands down the best! Seasoned perfectly, veggies weren't to soft and the breading had a nice crisp

Very good empanadas! We are vegetarians and they have great options for us. Our 3 year old loves the corn and cheese! Chimichurri sauce is a must!

They have great Empanadas. Our favorites are the Beef, Buffalo Chicken, Mushroom, Caprese, Spinach and Bacon Empanadas; my wife loves the Spinach & Mushroom ones

This was my first time visiting Empanadus in LaGrange. The place was clean, the young man at counter was pleasant and the selection of the empanadas was good. I decided to try a chicken pot pie, a mushroom and cheese and a four cheese along with sauce. The empanadas were all delicious and the sauce for me was just okay. I am used to having a more spicy sauce with my empanadas. Overall, I will definitely go back and try a few more whenever I am in Lagrange again. I suggest stopping by and at least trying one.

I ordered 2 Chicken Empanadas, 1 Buffalo Chicken Empanada, a side of the chimichurri sauce, and a side of a spicy sauce. The Buffalo chicken empanada (the one in my picture) was delicious by itself. The regular Chicken empanadas were amazing with the chimichurri sauce and the spicy sauce. There was so much flavor in each bite!

The only reason I gave 4 Stars is due the price. In my humble opinion 4+ for an empanada that size is pricey. I have to admit that they are good.

They cooked up a large order for takeout. It was fresh and cooked just right. It was a diverse group, and everyone got something they liked.
